Truly great interviews, somehow made better when you put them together in a single piece. I had never considered pacifism as a colonial tool in India-- the “approved” version of that story remains lodged in my brain. Thanks to Gelderloos and Hill for challenging it. I’m not sure the term “false morality” makes sense to me: non-violence is a “real” morality in the sense that is an internally-coherent moral philosophy. I see what you’re getting at and agree, but feel like we need a more precise term for the article even if “false” fits the headline better lol. Deceptive? Reactionary? Not sure but thanks for getting me thinking about it!
